Webserver Stress Tool is a powerful HTTP client/server test application, designed to pinpoint critical performance issues in your web site or web server that may prevent optimal experience for your site`s visitors. Supports SSL.
Pros: Webserver Stress Tool generates HTTP or secured HTTP requests to the designated web server simulating up to 10,000 real life users accessing the target web site. This is true of not only the main URL but also for several navigation route through the site map of URLs. Simple URL patterns are supported. Complex patterns can also be supported via script files. User can specify parameters that’ll ensure that besides the HTML download, frames, images, flash file are also downloaded. This enables emulation of the complete behavior of a typical user accessing the web site. Each user is simulated by a separate thread with his own session information (i.e. cookies for each simulated user are stored separately) and "surfs" the URLs independently from the other users - just like in real-world usage. URLs can be parameterized for each user and the sequence of URLs can be varied. Besides the basic POST and GET requests, simple authentication and some other settings can be set up as test requests.
There are three ways this load can be generated, each with increasing severity. First one is to generate a constant rate of clicks for each user and run the test until a fixed number of clicks have been generated. The second test option is to generate a constant load for a fixed time. The load and time can be specified with increasing stress. A third method is to create a ramping up load or increasing number of clicks per user over a time period. The logs and the charts tools help analyze the test results easily.
Cons: Nothing adverse noticed.
Overall rating 4 stars.
